- Obama has nearly killed the American Dream. No wonder voters are turning to fantasy politics: The country is experiencing its worst economic recovery since World War II and is witnessing its power and influence abroad decline. So voters are looking for something to defy the norm. “Trump and Sanders are soaring not just by defying the establishment, but by defying logic and history. - Trump, Sanders and the American Rebellion: Establishments of both parties got us here. They are responsible for this rebellion after 15 years of failed presidencies. Sanders is collecting support from young Americans who have never been taught anything good about capitalism and middle aged supports who want to try something safe, as terrorism is turning the world upside down. Trump’s backers are drawn to his willingness to stop illegal immigration, trade policies that have displaced the working class and political correctness that has gone too far. As institutions lose respect, voters think: Let’s take a chance. WSJ 2/11/16
- Prepare for the worst: Venezuela is heading toward complete disaster. Venezuela already suffers from the world’s highest inflation rate (expected to rise from 275% to 720% this year), has one of the highest murder rates, a pervasive shortage of consumer goods, power outages and a poverty rate of 76%. The political situation also reflects the distress in the country. Lastly, the country is awash in oil, the falling price of crude is hobbling the economy. Taken all of this together, the country looks ready to implode. Washington Post 2/11/16
